If your current support is not working, you are allowed to change providers. Choice and control is the whole point of the NDIS. Here is how switching actually works.
You have the right to change
You do not have to stay with a provider who is not meeting your needs. Changing is your right, and a good provider will make the transition smooth, not difficult.
Check your service agreement
Look at the notice period in your current service agreement. Most require a set amount of notice, often two to four weeks. You can give notice while you line up your new provider.
Line up the new provider first
To avoid any gap in support, confirm your new provider and start date before you end the old arrangement. A good new provider will coordinate with your current one.
Involve your Support Coordinator
Your Support Coordinator can manage much of the transition, including handovers of your plans and reports.
Make sure nothing falls through the cracks
Ask the new provider how they handle onboarding, staff matching and continuity of care, especially if you have complex needs.
