NDIS Occupational Therapy in NSW & QLD — Building Independence, One Goal at a Time
Pursue Ability delivers registered NDIS Occupational Therapy for participants across New South Wales and Queensland. Our experienced OTs work alongside participants, families, and support teams to build independence, maximise function, and create real, lasting improvements in everyday life — through assessments, interventions, and a comprehensive suite of communication and visual learning resources.
What is NDIS Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy (OT) is a clinical allied health service funded under the NDIS that helps people with disability develop, recover, or maintain the skills they need to participate meaningfully in daily life. The term “occupational” refers to any meaningful activity — from getting dressed and preparing meals, to working, socialising, and communicating with others.
NDIS Occupational Therapists at Pursue Ability work with participants across all disability types and all ages — assessing functional capacity, identifying barriers to independence, designing targeted interventions, recommending assistive technology, and creating the practical tools and resources that make real daily living possible. Our OTs take a person-centred, strengths-based, and goal-oriented approach — always focused on what the participant wants to achieve, not just what their diagnosis suggests they can’t do.
NDIS Registered
Fully registered under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and assessed against the NDIS Practice Standards.
Goal-Centred Practice
Every OT assessment and intervention is built around the participant’s individual goals — not a generic clinical template.
All Disability Types
Specialist OT experience across ASD, psychosocial disability, ABI, physical disability, intellectual disability, and more.
Communication Resources
We create custom visual aids, social stories, emotion cards, and Auslan resources for participants who need them.
Our NDIS Occupational Therapy Services
Pursue Ability’s Occupational Therapy service covers a comprehensive range of NDIS-funded OT supports — from initial functional capacity assessments through to ongoing therapeutic interventions, assistive technology prescription, home modifications, and our unique suite of communication and visual learning resources.
📋 Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA)
A thorough, evidence-based Functional Capacity Assessment that evaluates a participant’s ability to perform daily living activities, identifies functional barriers, and provides the NDIA with the clinical evidence needed to justify and maximise NDIS funding across all support categories.
🏠 Home Modification Assessments
Our OTs assess the participant’s home environment and prescribe NDIS-funded home modifications — from grab rails and ramps to bathroom modifications and accessible kitchen design — ensuring the home is safe, accessible, and functional for the participant’s specific needs.
🦽 Assistive Technology Prescription
We assess, recommend, and prescribe NDIS Assistive Technology (AT) across all levels — from low-cost aids to complex equipment including wheelchairs, communication devices, pressure care products, and environmental controls — with full AT reports and justifications for the NDIA.
🧠 Cognitive & Sensory Processing Assessments
Specialist OT assessments for participants with cognitive impairment, sensory processing difficulties, or acquired brain injury — providing clinical insight into how these conditions affect daily function and what supports, strategies, and adaptations will make the most difference.
👶 Paediatric Occupational Therapy
Dedicated paediatric OT services for children with ASD, developmental delay, sensory processing disorder, and other conditions — including school-based assessments, fine motor skill development, sensory integration therapy, and play-based therapeutic interventions.
💼 Vocational & Workplace OT
OT support for participants pursuing employment goals — including workplace assessments, workstation modifications, return-to-work planning, and capacity building strategies that support successful and sustainable employment outcomes under the NDIS.
🗣️ Communication & AAC Support
Our OTs work alongside Speech Therapists to assess and support participants using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) — including high-tech communication devices, low-tech visual supports, and custom communication boards tailored to each participant’s needs.
📖 Visual Aids & Communication Resources
Pursue Ability creates and supplies a comprehensive range of custom visual learning and communication resources — including Auslan sign language guides, emotion identification cards, social stories, daily routine visuals, and behaviour support tools — for participants, families, and support workers.
Our OT Process
Referral & Intake
Submit a referral and we respond within 24 hours. We discuss the participant’s goals, funding, and what they need from OT.
Assessment
Our OT conducts a thorough functional assessment — in the home, community, or clinic — observing the participant in their real environment.
Intervention & Resources
We design and deliver targeted interventions, prescribe AT, complete home mod reports, and create custom visual resources.
Review & Progress
We review progress against goals regularly and update our approach — always focused on measurable, real-world functional outcomes.
