NDIS changes to know about
Children aged 8 and under: Thriving Kids
Since 1 October 2026, children aged 8 and under with developmental delay or autism and low to moderate support needs are starting to get support through Thriving Kids, outside the NDIS. Children with permanent and significant disability stay eligible for the NDIS. The early childhood partner listed above can tell you which applies to your child.
A new NDIS law in 2026
The Securing the NDIS for Future Generations Act passed Parliament in August 2026. As plans are reassessed from October 2026, budgets for community participation and daily living skills are being reduced. From December 2026, providers must claim within 90 days of delivering a support. Only you, your plan nominee or a child’s representative can ask for an unscheduled plan reassessment. The new way of planning has been delayed to 1 April 2027. If you have a reassessment coming up in Kurri Kurri, we can help you get ready for it.
Supported independent living (SIL) changes
From 1 July 2026, SIL is claimed under a new support item (0138). Only registered NDIS providers, or providers who applied to register before 1 October 2026, can now deliver SIL. Pursue Ability is a registered NDIS provider, so your SIL funding can be used with us.
If you disagree with an NDIA decision
Start by asking the NDIA for an internal review of the decision. If you are still unhappy, you can apply to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) within 28 days of the internal review decision. The ART replaced the AAT in October 2024. Free legal help is available through the NDIS Appeals program.
