10 questions to ask before choosing a SIL provider

Choosing a Supported Independent Living provider is one of the biggest decisions you will make. The right questions help you tell a great provider from an average one. Here are ten to ask.

The questions that matter

  1. How do you match support workers to each person and home?
  2. How do you handle housemate compatibility?
  3. Do you own or lease your homes, and how secure is the tenancy?
  4. How quickly can you respond to a referral or a problem?
  5. Do you have in-house allied health, like OT and behaviour support?
  6. How do you support people with complex or behavioural needs?
  7. How do you communicate with families and Support Coordinators?
  8. What does your onboarding and transition process look like?
  9. How do you handle incidents and keep people safe?
  10. What outcomes have you achieved for people like me?

Why these matter

A provider that answers these clearly and honestly is one that has thought about quality. Vague answers are a red flag. The best providers combine reliability, the right staff, and genuine care.

At Pursue Ability we are happy to answer every one of these. Learn about our SIL support or make a referral.
